The nearest airport is Queenstown, just a short 10 minute drive (20 minutes in peak hour traffic). The local bus, airport shuttles and taxis are available for your journey to the airport (Queenstown Taxis 03 450 3000)

Orbus operates an extensive public bus service throughout the Wakatipu Basin. Your closest stop is just 4 minutes’ walk from Queenstown House on Frankton Road for buses to Arrowtown, Frankton, Fernhill and Frankton. Fares stat from as low as $2 NZD. Queenstown Central is a short downhill walk. We suggest you walk down Ballarat Street, which is one block to the left along Hallenstein Street. It is a four-minute walk down and a six-minute walk up. A taxi is approximately $8.00. A more leisurely and less challenging walk is up Sydney Street.

DAILY ROOM SERVICING We provide a daily service of your Room/ Apartment between the hours of 9:00am and 2:00pm. Please contact Reception if you wish to arrange a more convenient time or place the ‘Do Not Disturb’ sign on your entrance door. If the ‘Do Not Disturb’ sign is on your door, no servicing will be done to your room that day. |
DAMAGES/MAINTENANCE: We ask that you please report any damage to Reception as soon as possible after it has occurred. Should you spill something on the carpet or room furnishings, please inform us immediately so we can use the correct cleaning method to avoid further damage. Whilst we understand that accidents can happen, we do reserve the right to charge for damage and repairs as appropriate. Please report any maintenance issues to reception so they can be repaired as soon as possible. |
FOOD DELIVERY For all food delivery services, of which there are many in Queenstown we ask that you instruct the service to deliver to the entrance in Malaghan Street and that you are greeting the delivery driver at the door to ensure other guests are not disturbed. Please DO NOT PROVIDE DELIVERY SERVICES WITH OUR ENTRANCE CODE AND YOUR ROOM NAME. |
GAMES For your enjoyment during your stay we have a selection of board games available from Reception. |
LAUNDRY Washing machines, dryers, and laundry powder, are available for your use on the ground floor opposite the reception. Laundry is free of charge. The laundry is available for guest use from 7am to 7pm, the laundry is locked after these hours so please ensure you remove your belongings before then. Please follow the instructions in the laundry for usage of the washers/dryers. |
LOST PROPERTY We may be able to forward items left behind if you provide us with an address. Lost property is disposed of after two months. Please note that all food and beverage items left in the apartments are disposed of once you have departed. |
LUGGAGE STORAGE: We are happy to store your bags for you before check-in or after check-out or between visits. Whilst all care is taken, we take no responsibility for any damage to your belongings in our care. Please do not leave any valuables in stored luggage. We cannot store any perishable food items. |
WINE TASTING MEET & GREET We host a Wine tasting and Canape evening to give guests an opportunity to sample wines from local vineyards and to share tales of travels. Hosted several nights a week, please check the notice board at breakfast. |
RECYCLING In keeping with our environmental policy, we encourage recyclable waste such as flattened aluminium cans, cardboard, plastic bottles (rinsed, no lids), glass jars and bottles, and newspaper/paper, by providing bins in each apartment and on each floor. |
ROOM KEYS When you check out please return keys to Reception or leave them in the door of your room, a flat fee of $50 will be charged to your credit card if the key is not returned. |
SAFETY DEPOSIT We have a safe available in the office for the storage of valuables |
SIRENS – DAY AND NIGHT Do not panic! This is our Volunteer Fire Brigade being called to duty. Most sirens are usually a false alarm, but this noise can be scary, especially in the middle of the night. |

SMOKING/VAPING: Queenstown House is SMOKE FREE and VAPE FREE. You are welcome to smoke or vape outside the front entrance where we have provided a bench seat or on the outside deck. All rooms are SMOKE FREE AND VAPE FREE areas, and if smoking or vaping does occur in a room, there will be a cleaning charge incurred and charged to your credit card. Please be mindful of other guests if we are holding the meet and greet outside when these areas will become non-smoking/vaping. |
SKI STORAGE We request that snowboards, skis and boots are not kept in the rooms. Please check with reception on where to store these. |
HEATING Individually controlled heaters can be adjusted to suit your needs. If you are in an apartment, please see the specific instructions for the gas fires in your apartments. |

Enjoy a scenic cruise across Lake Wakatipu on board the vintage steamship to Walter Peak High country farm. The Earnslaw departs at various times of the day and there are many options to choose, from just a cruise, a farm excursion or perhaps lunch or dinner.
The skyline Gondola is open daily from 9.00 am it takes approximately15 minutes to ascend to the gondola terminal and restaurant at the top. The restaurant is open for both lunch and dinner buffet. Reservations are essential. The Luge is a must do, guaranteed to bring out the inner child! The tracks have amazing views, and you can control your speed, either a nice sedately cruise or the wind in your hair thrill factor.
Located beside the Gondola station, you MUST visit this conservation facility. You will see a live Kiwi, our native bird, and learn about our unique environment.
Arrowtown was “Born of Gold” in the 1860’s and is only a short 20-minute scenic drive from Queenstown. The main street is lined with faithfully restored historic buildings. And is great for shopping, dining, or just a casual walk along the Arrow River. The Lakes District Museum is a fantastic way to look back at the history of the area.
One of the Seven Wonders of the World! This trip is a must. The weather is an important factor when choosing a day trip. Our favourite is flying, as this minimizes the amount of time travelling and you can take in the spectacular views. Other options can be discussed with us.
For a longer, much gentler walk to town and back, walk three blocks along Hallenstein Street, turn right into Sydney Street, and walk three blocks to the start of the Queenstown Gardens. The gardens are beautiful to walk through and take you down to Marine Parade on the waterfront.
