2025 Ski Season & Winter Activities

Queenstown is home to some of the top ski resorts in the Southern Hemisphere, each offering its own winter fun. Here are the opening dates for the 2025 season:

The Remarkables: 14 June – 12 October

Coronet Peak: 14 June – 28 September

Cardrona Alpine Resort: 14 June – 5 October

Treble Cone: 28 June – 28 September

Whether you’re carving your first turns or chasing more technical runs, there’s a slope to suit. Coronet Peak is especially popular for its night skiing, running from 25 June to 5 September on Wednesdays, Fridays, and selected Saturdays—perfect for those who like to ski under the stars.

Winter Activities 

Before winter fully settles in, early June still puts on a beautiful display around Queenstown:

Queenstown Gardens: 

Take a peaceful walk among colourful leaves and enjoy tranquil views of the lake.

Arrowtown:

Wander through this historic gold mining village, known for its rich autumn hues and quaint streets.

Queenstown Trail: 

Ride or stroll along this scenic 130km trail linking Queenstown, Arrowtown, and Gibbston, surrounded by breathtaking landscapes.

Kawarau Gibbston Dark Sky Park:

Experience the magic of the night sky at New Zealand’s first International Dark Sky Park, tucked away in the Otago region. It’s a stargazer’s dream.

Queenstown Ice Arena:

Lace up your skates for a spin on the ice or catch a thrilling local ice hockey game at this centrally located spot.
